Wayne Chen is a fourth-generation piano rebuilder and technician who learned his craft at the age of 16 under his father, one of Shanghai's most esteemed piano technicians. At 24, he won the post of resident tuner at the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

In 1987, he was invited by Steinway & Sons to continue his training at their factory in Hamburg, Germany. Upon completion, he immigrated to Canada and became the resident piano technician for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As chief piano technician for the renowned ProPiano Company in New York City, he has rebuilt concert grands for both the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Wayne has also worked for the St. Lawrence Centre, the Toronto Centre for the Arts, and National Ballet School. He has been the official tuner for the Glenn Gould Studio at The Canadian Broadcasting Company since 1993.
