Liz Couture - ARCT, MYCC

Liz Couture is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and a certified Music for Young Children (MYC) teacher with 40 years private piano teaching experience, and 14 years of group piano teaching experience. Summer Camp will work with rhythmical foundations through fun "bucket drumming", singing camp songs using puppets and other creative teaching props, and composing simple songs that will be "souvenir takeaways" at the end of their music-filled week. Whether your child has had previous formal music training or not, whether younger or older, there will be activities sure to please everyone.

Ching Tien Lo - BMus Jazz, ECME, Suzuki, Orff, Kodaly

CT Lo has over 18 years' teaching experience, both in private and group lessons.  She is a certified instructor of the Suzuki, Orff, and Kodaly methods.  A classically trained musician, CT is also a graduate of the jazz program at Humber College.  Her diverse education and love of teaching make learning music fun for parents and children alike.

Afternoon Activities:

Musicianship

Young children will be exposed to elements in music through Solfege singing (using Do ré, mi), movements and circle games, Folk songs and puppet plays are used together with the games for early ear training.  Children will enjoy a week of fun music making with percussion instruments and dynamic story telling through puppetry.

There will be a singing performance at end of week.

Early Reading

Children are taught music theory through "fun dictation" and Solfege.  Basics of rudiments are presented with fun and easy understanding language for children.

4Arts in Music

For children of the age of 7.  We will be exploring the impressionistic period in music history, making water colour paintings to recordings and live performances of composers of this time. Exhibition at end of week.

Arts and Crafts
